Do you find it difficult to manage your day? You want to do a lot of things but end up disappointed as there is always something left and you feel you don’t have enough time in a day to achieve everything. As a parent our life revolves around our kids. From my personal experience, I am trying to share some tips that helped me and I am sure it will be helpful to you also to keep your day well organized and then you can achieve more. End of the day you will be satisfied that you have done well throughout the day.
So are you guys ready to challenge yourself and follow these tips?
Here are the tips. Let’s get organized.
1. Baby Routine:
Before setting your routine, first you must set your baby’s routine because that’s the main factor in setting your timelines for the priority tasks and everything in your day plan. Now talking about the baby’s day plan. You can’t just write down your baby’s day plan in a journal and think that it will be successfully executed from day 1. In babies, we should observe their daily activities and habits for some days. For example when they wake up, then their breakfast, afternoon nap time, dinner and sleep time, etc. Once your baby’s routine is observed and planned accordingly then you can plan your day. I used to make a note on when my daughter woke up, when she had her breakfast, her nap time, potty time, etc. and after observing her routine for a few days, I made a routine for her.
2. Make To-Do List:
If you make a note of work that needs to be done in a day then there is more chance that you will surely achieve them. Unwritten tasks are more likely to be forgotten or undone. I jot down my important work in my diary. I make my day plan inline with my daughter’s day schedule so that both schedules go well side by side and none of us get disturbed by each other’s time table. Obviously we cannot compromise with kid’s routine so eventually we will end up ruining our day plan.
3. Wake up early:
As a parent, we always complain that we don’t have enough time to do all the important things. So by waking up early you will have some extra hours to focus on yourself. I wake up at 5 am and start my day with some yoga exercise and then quickly go through what I have in my list for the day. Early morning hours are best to focus on yourself. Focus on your likes or hobbies, have some me time peacefully, enjoy your morning coffee and go through the To-Do list. Prioritize the top tasks which you want to get done in the first half of the day and start with those first.
4. Positive Start:
Your energy throughout the day depends highly on how you start your day. So start your day with some positivity around. Here is how I start my day. As I told you already, that I wake up at 5 am and I prefer to give early 2-3 hours to myself so that I can be positive throughout the day. I sit alone on the rooftop with my coffee and enjoy it with positivity and greenery around me. I have some plants on the roof as I like gardening a lot. It gives patience. I also prefer doing my exercise there. It makes me happy and feel positive about my life. We have to deal with work and kids throughout the day and I must say it needs energy to deal with kids specially. Having a positive start will make it easy for you.
4. Plan your day:
Try to stick to your To-Do list and try to achieve them as much as you can. Plan your day by going through what task list you have for the day and what needs to be done first. Make sure you prioritize the tasks very well. Finish the top most priority work before lunch. Anything can be done if planned well. I used to forget things before but now after making it a habit, I can balance my work and personal life very well. I am sure you all will do it excellently. I make some play time plans with my daughter so that when I ask her to sit and play by herself till I finish work, she understands. So whatever plan we are making, we must include some playtime, activities etc. to keep them happy and feel valued. They are the most important factor in our day plan.
5. Analyze your day:
At the end of the day analyze your To-Do List and check how much you have achieved in a day. If planned and executed well then you will be surprised and happy to see that you have achieved more than you usually do during your unplanned days. Planning makes it easy for you to do more work and that too as per your expectations. Obviously in the beginning you will not achieve everything as planned or your day goes well with your day plan. There will be some loopholes, there will be some plans which are changed as per the situations. But don’t feel bad, start another day with more dedication and energy and you will get it for sure. Every change takes time and good habits definitely take a lot of time, hard-work, dedication and patience.
I used to be worried about my daily routine. I wanted to achieve more but couldn’t figure out how to plan well enough to achieve everything that I want to. So by waking up early and planning my day wisely made me achieve more and now I am really happy to see that I can control my day plan according to my needs. It just needs to be your own way. I just gave some suggestions on how you can do it. Now it’s your turn to amend this plan and create your own version of a day plan which is helpful for you and can be as per your convenience also.
Let me remind you again that before creating your daily routine you must first create your kid’s daily routine, only then you can plan your day.
